Tasks
The Project Manager will lead the day-to-day implementation of the ILO’s component of the Digital Futures Programme, ensuring that activities are completed within the agreed budget, schedule and programme requirements.
Key responsibilities include managing project budgets and personnel, monitoring implementation, evaluating results and preparing technical and financial reports.
The successful candidate will also provide technical advice on disability-inclusive employment, strengthen relationships with governments and development partners, support resource mobilization and coordinate with organizations involved in the programme.
Additional duties include organizing training workshops, developing knowledge products, promoting gender equality and non-discrimination, and advising ILO colleagues and stakeholders on disability inclusion.
Qualifications (Education and Certification, Experience)
Education Requirements
Applicants must have an advanced university degree, such as a Master’s degree or equivalent, in social sciences, public health, development studies, disability studies or another relevant field.
A first-level university degree, such as a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in one of these fields may be accepted with an additional two years of relevant experience beyond the experience requirement stated below.
Work Experience
Candidates must have at least seven years of relevant experience in formulating and implementing inclusive technical cooperation activities, including international work.
Applicants should also demonstrate experience related to the employment or economic inclusion of vulnerable groups and populations exposed to economic exploitation or labour violations.
Management experience is important, particularly in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Experience in partnership building, fundraising, resource mobilization and donor relations is also required by the vacancy criteria.
Experience managing development cooperation projects in Africa with multiple international implementing partners is an advantage. Familiarity with ILO policies and procedures, and experience working with ministries, employers’ organizations or workers’ organizations, are also desirable.
Language Requirements
Excellent command of English is required. A good working knowledge of French is an advantage.
