Visual AIDS Research Fellowship 2026–27
Visual AIDS is inviting emerging writers and researchers to explore artists lost to AIDS. Three fellows will receive a US$1,000 research stipend, workshops and individual mentorship.
Research projects and participation
The designated subjects are Mark Carter, Edwin Lacend, Kenneth Mitchell and Joseph Modica. Research on the first three can be conducted remotely. The Modica project prioritises applicants able to conduct regular in-person archival research in New York.
Who can apply?
Applicants may live anywhere. An advanced degree, university affiliation or previous publication about HIV/AIDS is not required. Fellows need to participate in online meetings and write their final text in English.
Application and deadline
Submit the official form and a writing sample by 10 November 2026. Identify your chosen artist, explain your interest and outline questions you want to investigate.
