Scholarship Coverage and Benefits
The Radboud Scholarship Programme reduces the tuition fee for selected students to €2,771, subject to confirmation of the amount for 2027–2028. Radboud University gives an example in which a scholarship recipient would pay €2,771 instead of €19,000, depending on the Master’s programme.
The scholarship also covers costs associated with the visa, residence permit, health insurance and liability insurance for the recipient’s stay in the Netherlands, with insurance provided through Aon Student Insurance.
However, the scholarship does not cover the costs of living and studying in the Netherlands. Applicants should therefore arrange additional funding for accommodation, food, transport and other personal expenses.
Participating Faculties and Available Scholarships
Radboud University plans to award a maximum of 26 scholarships for 2027–2028 across the following faculties:
| Faculty | Number of scholarships |
|---|---|
| Faculty of Arts | 2 |
| Faculty of Law | 2 |
| Nijmegen School of Management | 5 |
| Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies | 1 |
| Faculty of Science | 9 |
| Faculty of Social Sciences | 7 |
| Total | 26 |
Eligible Master’s programmes must be taught in English. Erasmus Mundus Master’s programmes and joint-degree Master’s programmes are excluded.
The scholarship lasts for the nominal duration of the Master’s programme. For students admitted to a two-year Master’s programme, continued scholarship support for the second year requires passing all courses during the first year.
The Radboud Scholarship can also be combined with the NL Scholarship, subject to the applicable programme requirements.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Applicants must meet all the following conditions to be eligible for the Radboud Scholarship Programme:
- Hold a passport from a non-EU/non-EEA country.
- Not qualify for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee on other grounds.
- Have obtained, or expect to obtain, a Bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands.
- Have no degree obtained in the Netherlands and no previous education in the Netherlands. Exchange programmes are excluded from this restriction when they form part of a Bachelor’s degree obtained outside the Netherlands.
- Meet the English-language proficiency requirements for the chosen Master’s programme.
- Have received full admission to an eligible English-taught Master’s programme starting on 1 September 2027, as confirmed in the formal admission letter.
- Be able to meet the requirements for obtaining a visa for the Netherlands.
- Enrol as a full-time student at Radboud University for the relevant academic year and Master’s programme.
Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a scholarship, as the programme is highly selective.
Additional Information
How to Apply
Applicants must apply for an eligible English-taught Master’s programme through Radboud University’s OSIRIS Application system and indicate that they also wish to be considered for the Radboud Scholarship.
As part of the scholarship application, candidates must upload three additional documents:
- Two reference letters, preferably from academic referees.
- A curriculum vitae (CV).
Applicants who have already uploaded these documents for their Master’s admission application may upload them again for the scholarship application.
Important: Admission to a Master’s programme and selection for the scholarship are separate processes. Receiving an offer of admission does not automatically mean that the applicant will receive scholarship funding.

Incomplete applications will not be considered for the scholarship selection. Applicants are also advised to submit proof of English proficiency before the completion deadline.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship candidates are assessed by the selection committee of the faculty to which they have applied. The main selection criteria include:
Academic excellence: Previous academic results, relevant test scores or publications, the relevance of the applicant’s previous degree and the ranking of the university attended.
Ambition: The quality and relevance of the motivation letter, achievements in the relevant field and activities such as internships or volunteering.
References: The quality of recommendations in the two reference letters, preferably from academic referees.
Individual faculties may apply additional selection criteria, and some Master’s programmes may include interviews.

Opportunities Feed Assessment
The Radboud Scholarship Programme 2027–2028 is worth considering for academically strong international students seeking a Master’s degree in the Netherlands. Its tuition reduction and coverage of specified immigration and insurance costs can reduce the financial burden of studying abroad.
However, applicants should understand that this is not a fully funded scholarship and should plan for living expenses and other costs not covered by the award. Early preparation is recommended because the admission and scholarship applications must be completed within separate deadlines.
