DAAD’s current In-Country/In-Region call includes the University of Ghana’s WACCI MPhil in Seed Science and Technology for 2027. The programme supports postgraduate training linked to teaching and research careers in sub-Saharan Africa. See the official open-call listing.
Funding available
The WACCI call provides for up to three In-Country and eight In-Region awards, subject to funding availability, for a maximum of 24 months.
- Monthly allowance: €400 In-Country or €500 In-Region.
- Tuition support, €460 annually for study/research and €400 towards thesis publication.
- Travel allowance and health insurance for In-Region recipients only.
Not every institutional charge is necessarily covered. Additional fees, examination repeats or fee increases may remain payable. Continued funding depends on academic progress.
Eligibility
Applicants must be sub-Saharan African nationals or permanent residents, hold an above-average bachelor’s degree—at least upper-second equivalent—and have completed their last university degree within six years. Previous DAAD master’s scholarship recipients cannot receive further master’s funding.
In-Country funding concerns study in the applicant’s home or residence-permit country; In-Region funding concerns study elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa. Category-specific conditions matter.
Two separate applications
Submit the DAAD application by 12 November 2026, midnight CET. Apply separately for university admission; WACCI sets its own admission deadline. Do not assume the scholarship deadline also governs admission.
