UNESCO has opened applications for the UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Archaeology and Conservation 2026–2027, offering selected candidates a 9-month archaeological internship at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, with financial support, international travel coverage, and health insurance benefits.
The programme is offered by the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in cooperation with UNESCO to strengthen research capacity, promote international understanding, and support professionals in archaeology and conservation.
About the UNESCO/Poland Fellowship Programme
The fellowship will support 7 selected fellows who will undertake a 9-month archaeological internship at the Faculty of Archaeology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.
The internship will run from:
1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027
The programme focuses on developing advanced skills in archaeological research and conservation through multidisciplinary training.
Fields of Study
Selected fellows will participate in:
- New multidisciplinary methods in archaeological practice
- Additional specialised archaeology and conservation courses
- Practical research and training activities at Adam Mickiewicz University

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be nationals of one of the invited Member States
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Archaeology or Conservation
- Have proficiency in reading and writing English
- Be 40 years old or younger
Fellowship Benefits
Successful fellows will receive support from both Polish authorities and UNESCO.
Support Provided by Polish Authorities
The fellowship includes:
- Free tuition for 9 months
- Access to university facilities
- Monthly allowance:
- PLN 2,200 for Master’s degree holders
- PLN 1,800 for Bachelor’s degree holders
- One-time special allowance:
- PLN 2,200 for Master’s degree holders
- PLN 1,800 for Bachelor’s degree holders
The allowances support living expenses, accommodation, cultural activities, conferences, workshops, and academic-related activities during the fellowship.
Support Provided by UNESCO
UNESCO provides:
- International travel expenses between the beneficiary’s country and Poland
- Health insurance coverage for medically approved fellows during the fellowship period
- One-time pocket allowance of US$120

- Completed UNESCO fellowship application form
- Passport-size photograph
- Copy of passport information page
- Certified Bachelor’s or Master’s degree documents
- UNESCO language knowledge certificate where applicable
- Two recommendation letters
