Consultancy Background

GFC is reviewing its grantmaking operations during a leadership transition and is looking for a consultant to:

Scope of Work

1. Grantmaking Process Assessment and Improvement

The consultant will review the complete grantmaking process, including:

  • Partner due diligence
  • Grant approval processes
  • Funding disbursement
  • Reporting requirements
  • Grant closure procedures

Key responsibilities include:

  • Mapping the current Salesforce-based grant workflow
  • Identifying approval stages, handoffs and duplicated tasks
  • Assessing administrative burdens affecting staff and partners
  • Reviewing alignment with trust-based philanthropy principles
  • Evaluating the process from three perspectives:
    • Grantmaking operations staff
    • Internal programme teams
    • Grant partners
  • Reviewing operational manuals and documentation
  • Benchmarking against similar philanthropic organisations
  • Recommending improvements to processes and Salesforce workflows

The consultant should identify:

  • Quick improvements that can be implemented immediately
  • Longer-term improvements requiring additional Salesforce resources

2. Grantmaking Operations Team Structure Review

The consultant will provide recommendations on how GFC should structure its grantmaking operations function.

This includes:

  • Recommended team structure
  • Role responsibilities
  • Staffing requirements based on grant volume and complexity
  • Future hiring needs
  • Required skills and competencies

The consultant will also advise on collaboration between:

  • Grantmaking operations

Required Qualifications and Experience

Experience designing, managing or advising on grantmaking processes within:

Salesforce Grant Management Experience

Candidates should have practical experience using Salesforce for grantmaking, preferably:

  • Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
  • Grant management platforms

Programming skills are not required, but candidates should understand:

  • Automation opportunities
  • Data structures
