Applications are open for the IAEA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme, which provides scholarship support for women pursuing nuclear-related master’s degrees. The deadline is 31 October 2026.
Scholarship support
Selected students may receive up to €20,000 for tuition and up to €20,000 for living costs. These are maximum amounts, not a guaranteed €40,000 payment. Other scholarships must be declared and can reduce IAEA support. The programme also facilitates limited internship opportunities.
Who can apply
The call is for female applicants from IAEA Member States who are accepted by or enrolled at an accredited university for a nuclear-related master’s programme. Fields include nuclear engineering, medicine, physics, safety, security and law. Preference goes to applicants with strong academic results: 75% or above, or a GPA above 3.0 out of 4.0.
Required documents
Prepare identification, university admission confirmation, tuition-cost information and details of any other scholarship. One reference is mandatory and a second is preferred; referees send the official templates directly to IAEA. Documents must be in English or accompanied by official English translations.
Plan the application around evidence
Opportunities Feed application guidance: Contact your referee early and provide a concise summary of your studies, relevant work and intended career direction. Ask them to use the required template and confirm the submission route. An otherwise strong application can be weakened by missing documents outside your direct control.
Explain the connection between your chosen degree and the work you hope to do. Specific examples from a research project, laboratory placement or academic assignment are more useful than general statements about being passionate. Clearly distinguish completed achievements from future ambitions.
Before accepting any scholarship, read the award conditions, including academic progress and completion requirements. Build a realistic budget and check what the stated maximum support would mean for your particular university and study period. Funding should not be assumed to cover every expense.
