Treat your profile as a source, not the final CV
Europass lets you build a profile and create tailored CVs from it. Its guidance emphasises matching the job, presenting information clearly and using reverse chronological order. The existence of a Europass format does not mean every European employer requires it; follow the vacancy’s instructions.
Choose what the reader needs first
Read the advert and identify the most important duties. Select experience that shows you can perform those tasks. Keep a fuller private record of your background, but avoid giving every activity equal space in the submitted version.
For each relevant experience, describe the action, context and result. Replace vague statements such as helped with administration with an accurate explanation of what you organised or produced. Include numbers only when you can support them.
Make student and volunteer evidence useful
A group project or volunteer assignment can demonstrate relevant skills when labelled honestly. Explain your individual contribution and the output. Do not rename a short student exercise as professional consultancy to make it sound more impressive.
Check that dates, qualification names and language levels are consistent with the application form. Remove details that are irrelevant or that the employer specifically asks you not to provide.
Review the exported document
Open the final file and check page breaks, headings, links and readability. Use a filename that identifies you and the role. Read it once as a busy reviewer: can you see the most relevant evidence quickly? Tailoring is a content decision, not simply changing the employer’s name at the top.
