Background & Job Description

The Desk Coordinator will support Relief International’s efforts to secure funding for humanitarian and development programmes across multiple country offices.

Working with Desk Managers, Country Offices and technical teams, the role supports donor engagement, strategic positioning and business development across European donors, US Government donors, UN agencies, foundations, corporations and other institutional funding partners.

The role also coordinates proposal development from opportunity identification through submission.

Tasks

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring donor trends, funding opportunities and strategic priorities.
  • Sharing funding intelligence and positioning opportunities with country and headquarters teams.
  • Developing concepts, pitches and funding approaches.
  • Leading and coordinating proposal development processes.
  • Organizing proposal design workshops and consortium development processes.
  • Coordinating internal proposal reviews.
  • Supporting Country Offices with donor requirements, proposal development and budgeting.
  • Facilitating go/no-go decision-making processes.
  • Maintaining funding pipelines and opportunity tracking systems.
  • Strengthening country team capacity in programme design and proposal development.
  • Supporting donor submissions and online donor platforms.
  • Coordinating across Resource Development, Programme Implementation, Awards Management, Finance, Technical Teams and Country Offices.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

Applicants should have a degree in international relations, business administration or another relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience

Relief International is seeking candidates with demonstrated experience securing funding from institutional and non-institutional donors.

Relevant experience includes:

  • Working with donors such as ECHO, FCDO, EU institutions, UN agencies and US Government donors.
  • Working with foundations and other international funding partners.
  • Leading complex or consortium proposal development processes.
  • Managing proposals from opportunity identification through donor submission.
  • Understanding donor compliance requirements.
  • Proposal budgeting and indirect cost recovery.
  • Financial management principles.
  • Humanitarian or conflict-affected environments.

Experience with the international humanitarian system is highly desirable.

Languages and Skills

Professional fluency in English is essential.

Professional fluency in French is required for one of the available positions.
