What the Opportunity Involves

The driver will work under the Supply Chain Officer and report to the Supply Chain Team Leader.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely transporting passengers, cargo and official materials.
  • Following Nigerian traffic laws and DRC driving regulations.
  • Adjusting routes and driving speeds according to road, security and weather conditions.
  • Conducting daily and weekly vehicle inspections.
  • Checking fuel, oil, water, tyres, brakes, batteries and communication equipment.
  • Preparing vehicles for journeys and ensuring required safety equipment is available.
  • Reporting vehicle faults, accidents, incidents and near-misses.
  • Maintaining vehicle logbooks, fuel records and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensuring vehicle registration, insurance and roadworthiness documents remain valid.
  • Loading and unloading goods safely.
  • Delivering and collecting documents, parcels and official correspondence.
  • Supporting authorised procurement and shopping errands when required.
  • Ensuring transported goods have appropriate documentation.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and protecting DRC property.
  • Following DRC’s Code of Conduct and security procedures.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants should have a minimum of an OND or equivalent qualification and be able to read and write.

Previous experience working as a driver for a humanitarian NGO, particularly with owned or hired fleets, is required.

  • Handle vehicles independently with minimal breakdowns.

  • Work flexibly according to operational requirements.

A defensive driving certificate from an established driving school or firm is an added advantage.
