Eligibility and support
Applicants must currently be eligible to work in New Zealand. Deloitte’s FAQ accepts international students holding a three-year post-study work visa and requires evidence of work entitlement. Some audit and assurance pathways require accounting prerequisite or bridging papers.
Support includes mentoring, professional development, a joining bonus and study assistance for relevant pathways. The FAQ does not specify a universal salary or bonus amount.
Application process
Prepare a CV, cover letter and academic transcript. The process includes an application, one-way video interview, face-to-face interview and, for successful candidates, an offer. Only the first application is reviewed, although applicants can indicate an alternative team preference.
Choose a team before writing your cover letter
Start with the work described in a specific vacancy. Identify a task that interests you and one example that shows you are ready to learn it. An engineering, arts or science degree can supply useful evidence, but the connection to the chosen role should be explicit.
For example, a research assignment might demonstrate checking sources and explaining uncertainty. A customer-facing job might demonstrate listening and handling competing priorities. Explain the situation and your contribution in plain language, then connect that experience to the work you want to do.
Practical checks
Keep work-rights evidence separate from assumptions about sponsorship. If your permission expires before the intended period of employment, clarify the position before investing substantial time in an application. Confirm that your preferred office actually advertises the pathway you want.
Check your study completion date against the February start and leave time to obtain transcripts. For the video stage, practise concise examples in your own words rather than memorising a script. These are preparation suggestions, not additional selection requirements.
