Eligibility and important conditions
Applicants must meet participating programme admission requirements, nationality restrictions, a minimum GPA of 7.5/10 and the maximum age of 35 on 1 September 2027. Prior Dutch degree study and EU/EEA or Swiss dual nationality can affect eligibility. Check every condition on the application page.
Airfare is excluded. The allocated room is mandatory and unsuitable for accompanying partners, children or pets; rejecting it cancels the scholarship. Two-year recipients arrange second-year housing themselves.
Application sequence
Apply for a participating master’s first to obtain a UM student number, then complete the scholarship form. Prepare the required CV, motivation template, academic records, financial-needs statement and reference material. Submissions cannot be revised afterwards.
Build your application around the two deadlines
The preparation guidance below is from Opportunities Feed.
Treat admission and funding as two connected workstreams. Start a checklist for each, with a separate completion date and confirmation record. This makes it easier to see whether you are waiting for a transcript, a referee or an admission decision, instead of discovering a missing item at the end.
Choose a programme based on its curriculum and entry requirements before writing the motivation statement. Identify the modules or academic focus that connect with your previous work and future plans. A specific explanation of fit is more useful than a general description of why studying abroad would be valuable.
Prepare evidence that supports your case
Keep the dates, qualifications and achievements in your CV consistent with your academic records. Explain unfamiliar grading systems clearly using the official documentation available from your institution. Avoid making your own unsupported claims about equivalence.
For your motivation statement, choose a small number of concrete examples. Describe the work you completed, what you learned and how it connects to the proposed degree. If you discuss financial need, make the explanation factual and relevant; share sensitive personal details only where the application specifically asks for them.
Give your referee sufficient time and useful context. Send the programme name, your current CV, your intended study direction and the official reference requirements. Review contact details carefully so that verification can take place without unnecessary delays.
Budget before accepting an offer
Draw up a list of costs that arise before departure as well as those during study. Separate confirmed award support from expenses you must fund yourself. Consider whether the accommodation arrangements match your circumstances before investing substantial time in the application.
