Chevening Scholarships 2027–2028: Final Application Deadline on October 6

Updated 3 October 2026. Chevening Scholarship applications for 2027–2028 close on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. This is the application cutoff for the scholarship; successful candidates begin studying in September or October 2027. Chevening warns that applicants cannot access the online application system after the cutoff.

About the scholarship and funding

Chevening supports a one-year master’s degree at a UK university. Its award package includes tuition support, an individual living stipend, approved economy travel, an entry-clearance visa application and arrival and departure allowances. Living allowance rates depend on whether the scholar studies inside or outside London. Consult the official funding information for award terms and any course-specific conditions.

Eligibility to check before submitting

Applicants need citizenship of an eligible country or territory, a qualifying undergraduate degree and at least 2,800 hours of work experience acquired after completing that degree. Undergraduate studies must have finished at least two years before the application deadline. Scholars must return to their country of award for at least two years afterwards.

Applications involve three eligible UK course choices. Residence rules also apply, including additional ODA-country conditions and a restriction on applicants resident in the UK. Citizenship, prior funding and employment-related exclusions are detailed in Chevening’s eligibility guidance; applicants should read the full rules rather than relying on a short checklist.

How to apply and prepare documents

Start through your country or territory page on the official Chevening application website. Review your course choices, academic details and work history, and complete every required field before submission.

Shortlisted candidates must upload identification, their undergraduate certificate or diploma and reference letters at least seven working days before interview. The later unconditional university-offer deadline is 8 July 2027 at 17:00 BST. It does not extend the October scholarship deadline. See the official application timeline.

A useful final review

Read your responses together and check that they describe a consistent career direction. Replace broad claims with specific actions you took and outcomes you can explain. Check the names of your selected courses directly against their university pages, and make sure your examples show your own contribution.

Keep a personal copy of what you submit and allow time for technical problems. A saved application is not necessarily a submitted application: check the confirmation shown by the system.
