Updated 3 October 2026. RWE’s Business Transformation and Strategy Graduate Programme starts in September 2027. This refreshed guide replaces our earlier Chicago-specific coverage: that application window closed on 28 September. The official programme page currently lists Swindon as open.
| Duration | 24-month fixed-term contract; four six-month rotations |
|---|---|
| Swindon window | 24 September–8 October 2026 |
| Essen window | 12 January–11 February 2027 |
| Other locations | Chicago and Singapore application windows have ended |
Programme and eligibility
Rotations can cover strategy, project management, sustainability, communications, transformation and risk. The general degree requirement is finance, economics, business administration or a similar subject. Mentoring and a buddy support development. Detailed eligibility, work authorisation and pay must be checked in the individual vacancy.
Application route
Visit RWE’s official programme page and choose the relevant open location. Deadlines can change or close early. Selection includes an online test, video interview and assessment centre. Choose one graduate programme per cycle. RWE permits AI for preparation but asks applicants not to use it to generate their answers.
Prepare evidence of practical improvement
Our preparation advice is to choose a project where you helped change how something worked. It could be a student society process, a volunteer activity or a part-time role. Describe the original problem and the people affected before explaining your proposal. This gives the reader a reason to care about the improvement.
Explain how you compared alternatives. A recommendation becomes more convincing when you show the evidence behind it, the costs or constraints you considered and the trade-offs you accepted. Avoid presenting every project as a complete success: an honest account of what did not work can demonstrate thoughtful judgement.
Prepare to discuss how you worked with others. Identify your personal contribution without erasing the team’s effort. If you used a spreadsheet or dashboard, explain the decision it supported rather than listing the tool alone. Where possible, record a measurable result and describe how you checked it.
Check the location before applying
A programme can have several recruitment calendars, so an open vacancy in one office does not reopen a closed window elsewhere. Read the selected advertisement from start to finish, confirm your availability and gather the documents it requests. Save a copy of your submitted answers for interview preparation. If you need clarification on eligibility or adjustments, use the recruitment contact on the official page.
