Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 18 and meet the language and criminal-record requirements. Normally a completed university degree is required; limited offers accept specified EU vocational qualifications. Most places are for EU nationals, with very limited opportunities for other nationalities. Applicants must not have worked or undertaken a traineeship for more than two months in an EU institution, body or agency, or completed a study visit at Parliament’s Secretariat in the six months before the traineeship.

Application documents

Use a Europass-format CV and a motivation letter of no more than one page for each offer. You may apply to at most three offers per campaign. Submitted applications cannot be edited. Shortlisted candidates must later provide identity, qualification and criminal-record documents.

Select offers that fit your evidence

Compare the actual tasks in each placement before choosing your three applications. A broad interest in European affairs is useful context, but your letter should explain what you can contribute to that specific team. Match one or two responsibilities to examples from your studies, work or volunteering.

Keep each motivation letter distinct. If one role emphasises research and another communication, the same achievement may need a different explanation. Show what you did, who used the result and what you learned. Do not imply that familiarity with a subject is the same as professional experience.

Practical planning

Check the placement location and grant conditions before applying. Think about accommodation, travel and the timing of any move, especially if you would be leaving another course or job. A paid traineeship is not a guarantee of later employment.

Prepare your supporting records early and check the current language requirements on the official site. Review every field before final submission because the portal does not accept later corrections by email. Keep your own copy of each application.
