Duke University’s Karsh International Scholars Program combines undergraduate financial support with academic-development opportunities in Durham, North Carolina, United States. International applicants must demonstrate financial need as well as strong academic preparation.
Who can be considered?
The programme is for international applicants seeking their first bachelor’s degree. Applicants with US citizenship, including dual US citizenship, and people who already hold a BA or BS are excluded. There is no separate Karsh application or nomination route: apply to Duke and request financial aid.
What the scholarship covers
Selected scholars receive tuition, room and board, mandatory fees and additional demonstrated need beyond those costs. Funding for three summers can support research, unpaid internships and other academic-development activities. Selection is competitive; applying for admission and aid does not guarantee an award.
Deadlines and documents
For the 2026–27 admissions cycle, Regular Decision applications are due 4 January 2027, with financial-aid applications due 1 February. Early Decision closes 2 November 2026. Duke’s checked checklist does not state a cutoff timezone.
The admission file includes the application, high-school transcript, school report and counsellor recommendation, plus two teacher recommendations. Consult Duke’s international financial-aid instructions for the forms applicable to your citizenship; the general checklist also lists forms intended for US aid applicants. An application fee or approved waiver applies.
