Overview

Africa-UniNet’s seventh call offers project grants of up to €40,000 for collaboration between Austrian and African member institutions. Projects run for 24 months and are expected to start between July and December 2027.

Who can lead and participate?

A coordinator with a PhD, affiliated with an Austrian member institution, must submit the application. The consortium needs at least one Austrian and one African member institution, with all 2026 membership fees paid. Participants must be doctoral students or PhD holders; master’s students are not eligible under this call.

What funding covers

The grant supports eligible mobility and consumables. It is partial funding, so applicants must contribute their own funds. Staff expenses, overheads, equipment, visas, insurance and vaccinations are excluded. Presence at the research location is required.

How to apply

The Austrian lead should consult the call and submit through the official AU 2026 portal using an institutional account. African institutions take part as partners rather than submitting as lead applicants.

Deadline

The closing time is 30 November 2026 at 13:00 CET. The source displays an additional “pm” after the 24-hour time; this summary retains the unambiguous 13:00 CET value. Confirm the project budget and consortium requirements before submission.
