What you will learn
The Data Analytics and IT Controls teams examine financial information and the systems behind it. Training includes CFAB, CISA, Power BI certification and data courses. The work connects technology with the evidence used in financial audits.
Eligibility and costs to consider
BDO accepts a predicted or achieved 2:2 degree in any discipline, alongside its specified A-level or equivalent requirements and Maths and English school qualifications. Applicants need UK work rights covering the three-year training contract and employment. You must live within commuting distance; relocation support is not provided.
Choose the work that fits your interests
Before applying, consider whether you prefer investigating systems or examining data. For controls work, a useful practice question is how an organisation knows that only authorised people can change a financial record. For data work, consider how you would identify unusual transactions and distinguish a genuine anomaly from a formatting problem.
These examples are preparation exercises, not interview questions supplied by BDO. They can help you explain your interest more precisely than saying you enjoy both accounting and technology. A university project or a small personal exercise can provide useful evidence if you describe your own contribution accurately.
Application process and preparation
The advertised stages are an online application, assessments, video interview, virtual assessment centre and an in-person final interview.
Prepare your qualification history and supporting evidence, then follow the form’s document instructions. Review the full school-level requirements before applying: degree eligibility alone does not establish that you meet every condition. International applicants should check the duration of their existing work permission against the employer’s requirement.
Consider the practical budget as well as the headline salary. Estimate commuting, accommodation and moving costs before deciding whether the role is workable for you. Ask the recruitment team about any uncertainty that affects your ability to join on the mandatory start date.
