After studying, create a simple cash-flow forecast for a fictional small business. List when customer payments are expected and when expenses must be paid. Keep this exercise clearly labelled as a practice example rather than a record of actual business performance.
Start with a small number of transactions so you can check the logic. For each period, calculate opening cash plus receipts minus payments to obtain closing cash. Carry that closing figure into the next period and investigate any unexpected result.
