Programme guide, checked 1 October 2026. UHY Hacker Young offers UK accountancy training routes for graduates and school leavers. Its early-careers guidance describes tailored development plans combining professional learning with practical work. Vacancies and entry requirements should be checked for the office and route you want to join.
Graduate training
The graduate pathway supports trainees working towards ACA or ACCA qualification. UHY describes learning through real business assignments, regular performance feedback and reviews with managers. Experience may also broaden through relevant departmental or office secondments; these should not be treated as an entitlement attached to every vacancy.
School-leaver routes
The non-graduate programmes are intended for ambitious A-level or equivalent students. They combine work and classroom study, including training towards AAT and a pathway to ACA or ACCA without first taking a university degree.
School-leaver and graduate recruitment are different entry routes. Compare the qualifications you hold with the vacancy’s requirements instead of assuming that a degree is compulsory for every accountancy training opportunity.
Where to find current opportunities
UHY’s early-careers vacancy page lets applicants look for training opportunities by location and role type. There is no single closing date confirmed by this overview.
- Open the official early-careers page below.
- Choose graduate or school-leaver guidance, then current opportunities.
- Read the office-specific academic criteria, qualification route, start date and application deadline.
- Check work-authorisation requirements and any study-support terms stated in the listing.
- Apply through the route specified by that office and keep the vacancy reference.
Questions worth asking before accepting a place
Ask how working time and study time fit together, which professional qualification the role supports and how progress will be reviewed. Clarify examination support, resit arrangements and any repayment conditions in the actual offer documents.
In your application, explain why accountancy interests you and support that explanation with evidence. A budgeting project, part-time customer role or carefully completed piece of coursework can demonstrate useful habits. Describe your own contribution rather than relying on broad claims about being hardworking.
Prepare a realistic plan for balancing study, commuting and client work. The best route for you depends on your current qualifications and learning preferences, as well as the opportunities available in your chosen location.
