ICJ Judicial Fellowship with Stipend Support Through NYU Law

International Court of Justice name card

NYU Law is accepting applications for the International Court of Justice traineeship running from September 2027 to June 2028. The opportunity includes a stipend towards living costs in The Hague; the announcement does not specify an amount.

Restricted eligibility

This route is for current NYU Law 3L and LLM students and its JD/LLM graduates from 2022–2026—not a worldwide individual application.

Applicants should demonstrate strong legal academic results and interest in international law. Excellent English or French is required; knowledge of the other language is advantageous.

Apply through NYU

The deadline is 15 January 2027 at noon EST. Required materials include motivation letter, prescribed forms, CV, transcripts, two or three recommendations and a writing sample of no more than 15 pages. At least one recommendation should come from an NYU Law professor.

The official announcement provides forms and the submission email. NYU interviews shortlisted applicants and nominates candidates; the Court makes the final selection. A university nomination does not guarantee a fellowship.
