ARISC Research Grants Provide Up to US$500

ARISC Small Grants 2026–27 offer up to US$500 to help eligible students carry out research connected to the South Caucasus. The American Research Institute of the South Caucasus expects to make up to three awards.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan or Georgia and enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD programme in one of those countries. Students graduating in spring 2027 may apply. Master’s and doctoral projects receive particular encouragement. Eligible subject areas include humanities, social sciences and related sciences. Read the official call.

What can the grant cover?

Support can contribute to research expenses, including approved travel or remote research costs. It does not cover insurance. A budget above the award ceiling needs a clear explanation of other funding or a reduced project scope.

Application documents

The official application portal requests:

  • A project statement of no more than 1,500 words, excluding specified supporting material.
  • A work schedule and itemised budget with explanation.
  • A CV.
  • Two recommendations, including one from the academic adviser, submitted by the referees.

Identify whether the project uses the travel or remote-research option. The statement should explain the question, methods, contribution and practical obstacles.

Deadline and application route

Apply by 11 December 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST through the ARISC grant portal. The portal warns that submitted applications cannot be edited or resubmitted.

Frequently asked questions

Does selection remove the need for research permission?

No. Awardees remain responsible for necessary permissions and reporting, including an English-language presentation. Georgian applicants should read ARISC’s specific grant-approval notice.

What should applicants check before pressing submit?

Review document versions, calculations and referee arrangements. Save a personal copy of the final materials, and leave time to correct upload problems before the deadline.
