Who can apply?
Applicants must work at an ACU member university and be within seven years of starting an academic or research career, excluding career breaks. The conference must be in another Commonwealth country, and applicants must present a paper or poster or chair a session. Previous recipients are ineligible. Applicants must not previously have travelled for work outside their region of employment since starting their academic career.

Preparing a focused application
Build the budget from actual estimates rather than dividing the maximum award between broad categories. Explain what you plan to present and why this particular conference is relevant to your research. Identify two realistic outcomes, such as feedback on a method or a discussion with researchers working on a related question. Ask your institution which internal approvals you need before committing to travel. Keep evidence of the conference dates, submission status and expected participation role together.
