Start with the programme requirements
UNDP internships can be remote or in person, depending on the assignment. Eligible applicants include postgraduate students, students in the final year of a bachelor’s degree and recent graduates within one year of graduation. Internships generally last up to six months, with an exceptional nine-month provision for academic credit. A monthly stipend varies by location and work arrangement.
Read remote-work details carefully
Look for the team’s location, working language, expected hours and deliverables. If the advert leaves an essential arrangement unclear, record the question for the recruitment contact. Do not assume that remote status removes all location, equipment or availability conditions.
Test your own setup before applying: reliable internet, a quiet space for calls, file organisation and a realistic schedule. A remote placement still requires dependable collaboration. Explain your actual availability instead of promising unrestricted hours you cannot sustain.
Show evidence of independent work
Select an example where you organised a task, communicated progress and delivered something usable. Describe the output and how you handled feedback. A research brief, spreadsheet or student project can be useful evidence when genuinely relevant to the advertised duties.
Keep the example specific: what you produced, who used it and what you learned. Do not invent an impact figure or imply you worked for UNDP because you completed an unrelated online course.
