Vacancy checked 5 October 2026. UNFPA is accepting applications for a six-month South–South Cooperation internship, working five days a week in its Beijing office. The deadline is 16 October 2026, Beijing time.
About the assignment
The intern supports project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and communications, and helps with partnership development. The work provides exposure to UNFPA’s sexual and reproductive health and development mandate.
Eligibility
This in-person opportunity is limited to candidates applying from within the duty station. Chinese and English proficiency is required. Eligible applicants include undergraduates who have completed one academic year, postgraduate students, recent graduates starting within a year of graduation, and qualifying postgraduate professional trainees. Relevant disciplines include international relations, public health and social sciences.
Benefits and costs
A stipend may help with daily expenses where the intern lacks institutional financial support; this is not a salary. Interns arrange accommodation, travel and medical insurance, with insurance proof required before starting.
Application process and documents
Email a CV and motivation letter to njiang@unfpa.org by the deadline. Only shortlisted applicants are contacted.
Read the official notice and attached terms of reference.
Make your application specific
Use your motivation letter to connect your experience with the work described in the terms of reference. For example, if you helped prepare a project report, explain what information you collected, how you checked it and how the report was used. If you supported a partnership event, distinguish your coordination tasks from the responsibilities of the wider team.
Review the language requirements honestly. List the settings in which you have used each language, rather than relying only on broad labels such as fluent or proficient. Keep dates and degree details consistent between your CV and letter.
Before submitting, check that your availability covers the expected working pattern and that you understand the costs you would need to meet. Do not send identity or banking documents unless the verified recruitment process specifically requires them. These are editorial preparation suggestions, not additional selection criteria.
