The Arctic Field Grant 2027 offers NOK 20,000–130,000 for fieldwork in Svalbard, including Bjørnøya and Hopen, or Jan Mayen.
Eligibility and funding
Master’s students, doctoral students and experienced researchers need affiliation or qualifying collaboration with an approved Norwegian research organisation, which submits as Project Owner. The official call provides supplementary fieldwork support, not full project funding.
Salary, laboratory analysis, instrument purchases and conference attendance are excluded. Funds are reimbursed after approved reporting.
Application requirements
Use the official English-language templates for:
- A project description, maximum three pages.
- The project manager’s CV, maximum four pages.
- An itemised budget.
- Signed Project Owner confirmation.
Submit through My RCN Web by 11 November 2026 at 1 p.m. CET.
Preparing a feasible proposal
Discuss cash flow and field logistics with your institution before finalising the budget. Keep the field activities, dates and requested costs consistent across every attachment, and leave time for institutional review.
