EuroTech Doctoral Schools 2027: EPFL Offers CHF10,000 for Eligible Organising Teams

EPFL’s 2027 EuroTech winter and summer school call offers support to eligible teams designing doctoral training events. This is a funding opportunity for organisers, rather than a general scholarship application for students wishing to attend a school.

Call at a glance

Deadline 30 November 2026
Event venue EPFL premises; event completed before the end of 2027
Duration Two to seven days
Funding CHF10,000 EPFL contribution for approved organising committees, subject to the call’s conditions
Audience At least 15 doctoral participants

Who can organise a school?

The call covers DTU, EPFL, IP Paris, Technion, TU/e and TUM, plus CTU and TalTech. Committees combine professors and doctoral candidates from at least two participating institutions, preferably more, with an EPFL contact responsible for local administration.

Proposals must include the course plan, detailed budget and supporting letters. Participating institutions handle their own participants’ travel and accommodation under local procedures. A CHF100 participant fee applies to eligible network doctoral students, with organising-committee members exempt.

Understand the payment arrangements

The EPFL contribution is paid after review of the post-event report. Organisers should therefore clarify how costs will be paid before reimbursement and who has authority to commit funds.

Design a course with a clear outcome

Start with what participants should be able to do by the end of the school. Choose sessions and exercises that build toward that outcome, then decide how learning will be assessed. Avoid assembling a list of speakers before establishing a coherent purpose.

A useful proposal also explains why the institutions need to work together. Identify the distinct expertise each partner contributes and how doctoral participants will interact beyond listening to lectures.

Prepare a budget that separates local event expenses from travel and accommodation. Confirm responsibilities in writing within the organising team, particularly where spending falls across different university procedures.

How to submit

Read EPFL’s full call, use its proposal and budget templates, and submit through the doctoral programme as instructed. This article describes the EPFL-hosted call; another institution’s arrangements may differ.
